Suresh Raina





Suresh Raina is a young and talented cricketer, born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on November 27th, 1986. He is a left hand batsman and a part of Indian Cricket team. Since July 2005, he started playing One Day International Cricket and in early 2006, Suresh became a member of the Test Squad but he has made his debut in 2010. Besides, Suresh also play for the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy in the Central Zone. He is an occasional off-spinner and also a member of the 2011 World Cup winning team. Raina was very interested in Cricket from his childhood itself and started his career in 1999. His first success was becoming the U-16 captain of Uttar Pradesh. At the age of fifteen, he got selected for the U-19 tour to England. He made his debut in Ranji Trophy in February 2003 that match was played for UP against Assam. For the U-19 Asian ODI Championship that was held in Pakistan, Suresh became the team member and also participated in the U-19 World Cup 2004. In this series of matches, Suresh Raina has given his best and scored half centuries thrice. Later, it was the Challenger Series in early 2005 in which he played and got selected for the Indian Oil Cup 2005, which took place in Sri Lanka. In the Indian Premier League (2008), he was the vice-Captain for the team Chennai Super Kings. He was the highest scorer in all IPL matches and also recorded with the maximum catches for a non-wicket keeper. In the final IPL match of 2010, he has won man of the match title with a total score of 55 runs out of 35 balls. His international career was not much successful in the beginning and even in both Test and ODI series, he has faced a lot of failures until 2008.




But his performance in the IPL has given his career a boost and after the 2008 IPL, he participated in the triangular series in Bangladesh as a member of the International Indian Cricket team. His first century ever was during the Asia Cup 2008 against Hong Kong and this also happens to be the second fastest century in the Indian ODI cricket history. In 2010, he played in the triangular ODI final series against Sri Lanka and hit 106 runs off 115 balls and that was quite impressive performance of Suresh Raina. In ODI's he is the 10th player to win three consecutive Man of the Match awards and also the 12th Indian cricketer to hit 100 runs on Test debut.




He grabbed the third place after Gayle and McCullum to make century in all three cricket formats.
