Muhammad Yousuf Khan, who is better known with the name Dilip Kumar, is the greatest actor that Indian Film Industry ever had. According to his horoscopes, This iconic actor was born on 11 December 1922 in Peshawar and celebrating his 90th birthday today. His family shifted to Mumbai in late 1930s and in 1940s, he worked as a canteen owner and supplied dry fruits. The owners of Bombay Talkies, actress Devika Rani and Himanshu Rai spotted Yousuf in Pune's military canteens and offered him the lead role in the movie Jwar Bhata in 1944. Yousuf was then given the screen name Dilip Kumar by the author Bhagwati Charan Varma. This film was not successful but in 1947, he got his first hit with Jugnu and after that success started hitting his door through films like Mela, Andaz, Deedar, Devdas, and Madhumati etc. All these films had won him the title and image as Tragedy King. During 1950s, he almost ruled Bollywood and even starred together with Raj Kappor in Andaz and with Dev Anand in Insaniyat.

Dilip Kumar also did multi-starrer and character roles in movies like Kranti, Shakti, Vidhaata, Mashaal and Karma.

The actor's last hit film was Saudagar that also had Raj Kumar. His other awards include Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, three consecutive Filmfare Best Actor Awards, 19 Filmfare nominations, Padma Bhushan, Sheriff of Mumbai by the Indian Government, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, NTR National Award by Andhra Pradesh Government, Nishan-e-Imtiaz by Pakistan Government and honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 by CNN-IBN.
