India's Business tycoons - Mr. Ratan Tata and Lt. Dhirubhai Ambani, celebrate their birthday today





December 28, 2012 marks the birthday of two most popular and prominent business tycoons of the country, Dhirubhai Ambani and Ratan Tata. Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani or Dhirubhai Ambani is the founder of Reliance Industries, which holds place among the top hundred Fortune 500 companies in the world. Ambani was one of the top 50 businessmen in Asia, as per the Sunday Times newspaper and Ambani's are the world's second wealthy family. According to Lt. Dhirubhai Ambani's horoscope, He was born on 28th December, 1932 in Gujarat, India to Hirachand Gordhandhas Ambani and Jamnaben. The life of Dhirubhai Ambani can be stated as rags to riches story. At 16, he worked for a salary of Rs. 300 and later, worked at the filling station at the Aden port. He has two sons, Mukesh and Anil Ambani and two daughters, Nina Kothari and Deepti Salgaonkar, from his marriage to Kokilaben. He expanded the Reliance Industries in several segments like petrochemicals, refining and oil and gas, textiles, telecom, retail business and special economic zone business. He was honored ith the Man of the Century award by Chemtech Foundation and Chemical Engineering World in 2000, and Corporate Excellence for Lifetime Achievement Award from Economic Times in 2001. Ambani was also accused of following manipulating and unethical business practices to meet his requirements. In 2002, he suffered major stroke and breath his last on July 6, 2002.


Lt. Dhirubhai Ambani


Ratan Naval Tata or Ratan Tata is the Chairman of Tata Group and Tata Chemicals, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Steel, Tata Tea, the Indian Hotels company and Tata Teleservices. He is one among the 25 most powerful businessmen as ranked by the Fortune magazine in 2007. He was born on December 28, 1937 in Mumbai and the great grandson of Jamshedji Tata, who founded the Tata Group. As his business report says that his career started in the Tata Group in 1962 and worked along with the blue-collar employees, handling the blast furnaces and limestone shovelling. In 1991, he became the chairman of the Tata Group and made it a global business by acquiring Tetley, jaguar Land Rover, and Corus. Ratan tata has fulfilled his dream of launching Tata Nano in 2008. On his 75th birthday, i.e, he has announced his retirement from all executive responsibility in the Tata Group and his successor is Cyrus Mistry.

Tata received various awards like Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Lifetime Achievement Award by Rockefeller Foundation, Global Indian Award at the NASSCOM Global Leadership Awards, and he was the first Indian to whom, the Government of Singapore conferred honorary citizenship for his contribution of high tech sectors and abiding business relationship with Singapore.
