Karthik Raja


Karthik Raja is a well known Tamil musician from Chennai, India. He made his debut as music composer in the Tamil film Alexander and went on to score music for many critically and commercially acclaimed feature films. He is the eldest son of maestro Ilaiyaraja and today, he celebrates his 40th Birthday. Karthik Raja started as early as 92-93 where he began contributing for his father’s films such as Uzhaipaali and Amaidhi Padai with its background scores. In 1996 he had his solo mainstream release through Alexander and soon went on to be part of several commercial successes. Raja horoscope suggests that he falls in Cancer, he should be careful with all his attributes today. And then, his horoscope matching compatibility suggests that Pisces would be the best one.

Over the years Karthik has associated himself with some critically acclaimed work such as Achamundu Achamundu and Mitr, My Friend cutting across regional boundaries and languages. He is one of the youngest film music composers from the Chennai film industry in Tamil Nadu, South India. He graduated from the Prestigious St. Bede's school in Chennai. Karthik has one younger brother Youvan Shankar Raja and one sister Bhavatharani. Both, his sister and brother have also worked with him in many films. He got married to Raja Rajeswari in Tirupati in Andra Pradesh in India. He inherited musical talent from his father and he joined Trinity School of Music and got his training in Western Classical music. His gurus were T. V. Gopalakrishnan and Dakshina Murthy Swamy. He worked as the keyboard player for the song Kannukkum in the film Ninaikka Therindha Manam when he was just 13 years old, he was greatly inspired by the Indian and Western classical music jazz. Karthik Raja was also done his graduation from Loyola College in Chennai.




His debut music composing wars for the song Pandiyanin Rajiyathil in the film Pandiyan in the year 1992. Around this time, he also composed some background scores for the TV series Bible. He debuted as a full fledged composer in 1996 through the Tamil movie Alexander, soon followed by Manikyam. Then came many chart-busters that included Ullaasam, Dumm Dumm Dumm and Naam Iruvar Nammaku Iruvar among others. On the other hand, he also debuted in Hindi films with Grahan which won him the R. D. Burman award for the best new talent. It's a privilege to see such young creative and innovative Tamil musician from Chennai, India. John Cusack celebrated his birthday on 28th june.
