Sharada


The exceptionally talented and versatile actress Sharada is celebrating her Birthday today. She is known for playing any kind of role but mostly portrayed characters with emotions, grief and pain. She was born as Saraswati Devi on 12 June 1945 in Tenali, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh to mother, Satyavathi Devi and father, Venkateswar Rao. She has a brother named, Mohan Rao. In her childhood, Sharada lived with her strict and disciplinarian grandmother Kanakamma in Madras (now, Chennai). At the age of six, she started learning dance and used to perform during festivals. It was actually her mother's desire of her learning dance and become a big star in the film field.

With her grandmother's support, Sharada began acting in theatre. At that time, the female lead stars used to work only until their marriage. So, most of them in the industry used to be younger than the male actors. At the age of 13, she was paired with the actor who was 30 years older than her, in one of her plays. Saraswati Devi made her debut in a minor role in a Telugu film, Kanyasulkam. Later, she got a good role in the Telugu version of a Tamil drama, Rakta Kanneeru. She changed her name to Sharada in 1959. She received formal training in acting under a Telugu producer, L.V. Prasad and even took Navarasa lessons.




In Iddaru Mithrulu, she was paired opposite Akkineni Nageswara Rao and that was a hit. Following this success, Sharada got many offers in Tamil and Malayalam films. There are many films of this Celebrity in Malayalam and in 1967, she won a national honorary award for her great performances. Sharada also  won three National Awards for Thulabharam and Swayamvaram (Malayalam) and Nimajjanam (Telugu). The other awards include NTR National Award, Kerala State Film Awards, Filmfare Awards South, Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards and Urvasi Award and for which she is also called as Urvasi Sharada. The actress, who was born under the Gemini Zodiac Sign, later gained success in the Telugu film industry, working opposite many top male actors.




She did a few Hindi films like Samaj Ko Badal Dalo, and Sabse Bada Mawali and Kannada movies like Valmiki and Maathu Tappada Maga. She was married to Telugu actor Chalam but divorced later. She owns a chocolate factory, Lotus Chocolates. She was also elected a Member of Parliament On Telugu Desam Party ticket. Sharada is a humble, energetic and enthusiastic personality. She is a good communicator and can do multi tasking. Her Horoscope predicts a very favorable period in the coming days with good support and peace in the family. Laloo Prasad Yadav celebrated his birthday on 11th June.
