Moon Moon Sen is a popular actress who worked in films of different languages like Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi etc. She was born on March 28 1948 to Bengali actress Suchitra Sen and Dibanath Sen and celebrating her Birthday today. Her father is the son of Adinath Sen, one of the richest businessmen of Calcutta. Her great grandfather, Dinanath Sen, was the Minister of the Maharaja or Tripura. Before coming to films, she taught English in a school and even learnt drawing from the nation's greatest artists, Jamini Roy. Unlike other actresses, Sen's film and television career started post her marriage and motherhood. She got married to a descendant of the royal family of Tripura state in 1978 and have two daughters, Raima Sen and Riya Sen, who are also actresses.
According to her career report, Her first film was Andar Bahar in 1984 that created a controversy for the role played by her. In 1986, Moon Moon Sen debuted in Telugu films with Sirivennela, made by legendary director K, Vishwanath. Then she worked in the film, 100 Days in 1991 and Zakhmi Dil in 1994. She did not worked in films during this period and she made a comeback with the movie Kucch To Hai in 2003.
The movies in which she appeared include Musafir, Jaal, Pyaar Ki Jeet, Jeevan Ek Sanghursh, and Taj Mahal etc (Hindi), Majnu and Sirivennela (Telugu), Yuga Purusha in Kannada and Rajbadhu, Gajamukuta, Anjali, Pujarini, and My Karma etc in Bengali. For her good work, she was honored with awards such as Nandi State Award, the Kalakendra Screen Award, Kalakar Awards and the Bharat Nirman Award. This Celebrity also took up some modelling assignments before and post her entry into the film industry. Sen is mostly known for appearing in soap ads. Then she went on doing some television serials and few Bengali tele-films. Presently, she is said to have been writing a cookbook in Bengali which is not published yet.
