Shashi Kapoor


Born as Balbir Raj Prithviraj Kapoor in Kapoor family in Kolkata on March 18 1938, Shashi Kapoor turns 75 today, on his Birthday. He is the son of Prithviraj Kapoor and his brothers are the popular actors, Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. He is the widower of Jennifer Kendal and their children are Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. His career in films started at the age of four, where he appeared in many commercial and mythological movies. He even began acting in plays, which were directed and produced by his father. As a child artist, he acted in 19 films between 1944-54. For films like Post Box 999, Guest House, Dulha Dulhan and Shriman Satyawadi etc. He also worked as an assistant director. Later, Shashi Kapoor started getting lead roles and as the lead actor, he worked in 116 films, that includes 63 films as solo lead hero, 53 multistarrers, 22 films as supporting actor and 5 special appearances. According to his career report, He achieved good stardom between 60s and 80s, the period where he worked in a few English films also like Householder, and Shakespeare-Wallah and became one of the first actors to go international. As a solo hero, the hit films in which he worked include Haseena Maan Jayegi, Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati, Chor Machaye Shor, Kalyug, Vijeta, Dil Ne Pukara, Junoon and lots more.

This Celebrity also worked with Amitabh Bachchan in many films that became successful like Deewar, Kabhi Kabhi, Kaala Patthar, Namak Halaal, Shaan, Do Aur Do Paanch and others. His career growth was steady until his wife's death in 1984, where he started gaining weight and that fetched him character roles. In 1978, he started the Film Valas production house and became a director and producer in 1991. The last two films in which he appeared in 1998 were Jinnah and Side Streets. Shashi Kapoor received several awards for his work and contributon to the film industry like Padma Bhushan by the Indian Government, National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, and others like Mohammed Rafi Award, Lifetime Achievement Award etc, which he consider to be his career Achievements. This member of The Kapoors – the first family of Indian cinema, is a talented, clever and kind person with a strong determination. He is considerate and hospitable. He is a Piscean and according to his Pisces Horoscope, he might face some issues related to health and hence, good care is required. There will be support and love from family and that helps him to deal with stress and ups and downs in life. He must avoid being aggressive and try to maintain harmony and good relations with other people.
