Amrita Rao

Amrita Rao is a beautiful Indian actress and model who celebrates her 32nd Birthday today. She was born on 7 June 1981 to a Mangalorean Brahmin family in Mumbai. In that city, her father runs an advertising company and he is also an author. Konkani is her mother tongue and she is also fluent in Hindi, Marathi, and English. Amrita studied in C.G. High School and later, went to Sophia College and received a degree in Psychology. She has a younger sister, Preetika Rao, who is a model, columnist and film journalist. The first time when she faced camera was during her college where she auditioned for Fairever Face Cream advertisement.

Amrita Rao then did several photo shoots and commercials including Bru Coffee and Cadbury's Perk Karwa Chaut that helped her receiving offers from Hindi film directors. Not only advertisements but she also appeared in many music videos. Today she is a popular Bollywood actress but still she makes appearances on ramps for designers as a celebrity guest. Her first movie Ab Ke Baras came in 2002 opposite Arya Babbar. But it is her second film, Ishq Vishk in 2003 opposite Shahid Kapoor that made her popular. In 2004, she worked in three movies titled Masti, Main Hoon Na and Deewaar.

The other movies of this Celebrity in 2005 and 2006 include Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, Shikhar, Pyare Mohan, and Vivah, which became a blockbuster. In Heyy Babyy, she made a special appearance in the title song. Amrita also worked in a Telugu movie Athidhi opposite Mahesh Babu. In 2008 and 2009, she was seen in the movies, My Name is Anthony Gonsalves, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Victory and Shortkut. There was only one film of her in 2011 and that is Love U...Mr. Kalakaar! Her recent release is Jolly LLB starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani and the other films which are slated to release this year are Singh Sahab the Great and Satyagraha.

Amrita received several awards and nominations for her work till now which include Filmfare, Star Screen, Zee Cine, IIFA, Stardust and many other awards. But her biggest achievement is winning Dadasaheb Phalke Award at a young age. After Madhuri Dixit, the great artist MF Hussain pronounced her as his muse.
