The beautiful Indian actress, Sarika Thakur, popularly known as Sarika celebrates her 51st Birthday today. She was born on 3 June 1962 into a Marathi family in New Delhi. Her career in acting began during 1960s as a child actor. In her first film, she played the role of a boy, who is named Master Sooraj. Her interest of acting continued and films have become her main career option. Sarika took up almost every opportunity she got and worked in a number of children's films. She also did some B grade movies in her initial days. Then a good opportunity knocked her door with Rajshri Productions, Geet Gaata Chal.

The film starred actor Sachin and this pair, appeared in several Hindi and Marathi films. It is said that they both had a brief affair. This Celebrity was involved with actor Deepak Parashar post her break up with Sachin. Later, she met and got to know about actor Kamal Hassan through the film Karishmaa that came in 1984. During 1980s, Sarika was offered roles as westernized or modern girl in most of her films. Later, she got married to Kamal Hassan. She choose to quit acting despite being in the peak stage of her career and moved to Chennai.

The couple have two daughters, actress Shruti Hassan and Akshara Hassan. In 2002, the couple filed for divorce and got separated and the reason for their separation is Kamal's relationship with actress Simran Bagga. Sarika made a comeback in Hindi films post her divorce. She got a role in the film, Sacred Evil – A True Story but that was a failure. She was also a successful costume designer. For her best work for the film, Hey Ram, she was given the National Film Award for best costume design. She received another National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Parzania as a Zoroastrian woman.

In 2006, she appeared in the hit film, Bheja Fry and did a small but key role in Manorama Six Feet Under. She worked opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Shoebite and she was last seen in Jab Tak Hain Jaan (2012) and David (2013). Sarika was born under the Zodiac Sign, Gemini and she is a practical person who loves doing things in a methodical way.
