Shilpa Shetty

Today is the Birthday of popular Indian actress Shilpa Shetty and she turns 38. Shilpa was born on 8 June 1975 to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty in Mangalore, Karnataka. She is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, black belt in karate and now, a dancesport expert and enthusiast. Shilpa's younger sister, Shamita Shetty is also an actress. At the age of 16, her career began modelling for Limca and after two years, she made her debut in the film industry with Baazigar. The film was a huge hit and she was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. Aag in 1994 was her first film in the lead role followed by Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Aao Pyaar Karen.

Shilpa Shetty appeared in a Tamil film, Mr. Romeo and in Telugu film, Sahasa Veerudu Saara Kanya in 1996. In 1997, Auzaar was one of her biggest movie followed by Pardesi Babu, the next year and she won the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2004, she received good success with films like Garv and Phir Milenge. For the latter, she received Filmfare Best Actress nomination and much acclaim for her performance. She also did a Kannada film, Auto Shankar that turned out a major success. In 2006, she appeared as a judge for the dance show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Life in a... Metro in 2007 was one of the best works of this Celebrity. The film was critically acclaimed and she was next seen in another hit, Apne. Shilpa became the contestant of the Celebrity Big Brother UK and came out winner. She was the first Indian to have participated on that show. During her stay in the house, she was under racist attack by housemates like Jade Goody who later made apology to the actress. Post that show, she attended a reception at the House of Commons and was invited to meet with Queen Elizabeth II. She was again in controversy in 2007, during an AIDS awareness event when Richard Gere hugged and kissed on her cheek. In 2008, she hosted Bigg Boss second season and Jade was one of the contestant, who suffered cervical cancer and died in 2009.

The same year she married businessman, Raj Kundra and their son is Viaan Raj Kundra. The couple are the part owners of the Indian Premier League franchise cricket team, Rajasthan Royals. Shilpa Shetty was born under Gemini Zodiac Sign and she is a talented, independent and generous individual. She likes learning new things and is ambitious.
