Sachin Tendulkar


Sachin Tendulkar, who is also popularly known as The Little Master and Master Blaster, turns 40 today and celebrates his Birthday. He is the most popular Indian cricketer also acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen in One Day International. He was born on April 24 1973 in Bombay, Maharashtra. He went to Sharadashram Vidyamandir High School where he was coached by Ramakant Achrekar. Apart from school cricket, Sachin also played club cricket and represented John Bright Cricket Club and later played for the Cricket Club of India. In 1998, Sachin with his team mate made an extraordinary 664 run partnership in the inter school match. When he was just under 16, he made a century for Bombay against Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy.

He was then picked up by the then Mumbai captain Dilip Vengsarkar to play for the team. Sachin Tendulkar played his first Test match against Pakistan in 1989. Sachin scored a century at Old Trafford in the 1990 Test in England. He then made an unbeaten score of 148 in Sydney during the 1991-92 tour of Australia. He was the leading run scorer at the 1996 World Cup where he scored two centuries. In the 2003 Cricket World Cup he scored 673 runs in 11 matches and received the Man of the Tournament award.




In 2005, this Celebrity made record breaking 35th century in Test play in a match against Sri Lanka. After the ODI series against Sri Lanka, he played Test matches in 2008, and reached the 12,000 run mark. In 2010, in the 2 Test Series against South Africa, he made his hundredth score over 50 in International Test Cricket and in the subsequent ODI series, he scored 200 not out to become the world's first person to make double century in ODI cricket. In October 2009-2010, during the seven match ODI series, he became the first cricketer to reach 17000 ODI runs and in 2011, he became the first batsman to make 15000 runs in Test Cricket. In 2012, Tendulkar scored his 100th international hundred against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup. It was one of his greatest Achievements and he became the first person in history to achieve this feat. He is the captain of the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League Twenty20.




Sachin is also into several commercial endorsements that include Pepsi, TVS, Sunfeast, MRF, Coca Cola, Boost and many others. He won various awards like Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shri, Arjuna Award and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award etc. Sachin is married to Anjali, a paediatrician and have two children, Sara and Arjun. Sachin Tendulkar was born under the Taurus Zodiac Sign and he is idealistic, adaptive and a significant leadership personality.
