Madhubala


Today is the Birthday of one of the most enduring legends of Hindi cinema, Madhubala. According to birth chart, This gorgeous actress was born on February 14, 1933, which is the Valentine's Day, to a Muslim couple in New Delhi. She was the fifth among eleven children and was actually named by her parents as Mumtaz Jahan Dehlavi. She was born with the blue baby syndrome, a problem related to the heart. After losing the job, her father moved to Mumbai with entire family and used to made frequent visits to the Bombay Studios for work. This way, Mumtaz found the work in the film industry and at the age of nine, she began working as a child artist. As a child actor, Mumtaz's first film was Basant (1942) which was a success. Her performances had impressed actress Devika Rani and suggested her to change her name to Madhubala.

According to career horoscope, She was paired with Raj Kapoor in Neel Kamal (1947) at the age of 14. In the next two years, she received several offers and that helped in shaping up her career. Eventually, she was referred to as the Venus of the Screen. She became a superstar overnight by her strong performance in the film, Mahal (1949). The film was a box office hit and following that films like Dulari, Beqasoor, Tarana, and Badal made her the most prolific and bankable actresses of that time. The actress came to know about her heart problem in 1950 but concealed her illness from the industry. In 1954, during a film shoot, she vomited blood on the sets and only then her illness was revealed.




In spite of that, she continued acting and became an A-grade star. In the same period, she became one of the India's leading and popular actresses. Even Hollywood was impressed and attracted to her beauty and acting ability and offered her work. But her father had to decline that offer considering her health problem. This Celebrity has worked with many top actors in successful movies and her work in the film, Mughal-e-Azam along with actor Dilip Kumar, is still a treat to watch. Dilip Kumar and Madhubala had a long affair but that ended after five years.




Later, she got married to actor and playback singer Kishore Kumar. In 1960, her health started deteriorating and on 23rd February 1969, she passed away after her 36th birthday. She acted in more than 70 films like Mumtaz Mahal, Amar Prem, Paras, Mahal, Sangdil, Amar, Mr. & Mrs. '55, Howrah Bridge, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Half Ticket, and others. Being an Aquarian by her Zodiac Sign, Madhubala was a strong and attractive personality. She was honest, sensitive, and of very kind nature. Her shyness made her to hide many important things related to her life. She was a beauty with brains with strong fighting spirit.
