Irfan Khan

Irfan Khan is a talented and experienced actor in Indian films, theatre, and television. According to his birth chart, He is originally named Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan but the Bollywood and entire world know him with the current name. His birth took place in the city of Jaipur to a Muslim family on November 30, 1962. In 1984, at the time when he was taking up the M.A. Degree course, he also achieved a scholarship to join the National School of Drama in New Delhi. Later, he shifted to Mumbai where he got good offers to work in television serials like Chandrakanta, Bharat Ek Khoj, Darr, Star Bestsellers, Banegi Apni Baat and many more. He was busy with his work in television serials until Salaam Bombay, directed by Mira Nair, came his way in 1988. But, unfortunately, his role was edited out at the end. Two years later, he starred in the movies Ek Doctor Ki Maut and Such a Long Journey but those went unnoticed.

Then the Celebrity had a turning point with the historical film, The Warrior, that was premiered in many international film festivals and won him good name. In 2003, Irfan Khan appeared in a short film, Road to Ladakh and that followed by the critically acclaimed movie Maqbool. For his performance in Haasil, he received the Filmfare Best Villain Award in 2004. As a lead actor, his firm movie was Rog, which came in 2005.

His next award was of the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for his role in Life in a Metro film. And next came, The Namesake, which was a big hit in overseas market. He became a known face even in abroad by acting in international movies like A Mighty Heart and The Darjeeling Limited. In spite of his success in movies, he still gave importance to television and worked as a host to the show Mano Ya Na Mano and Kyaa Kahein. In the year 2011, he also won Padma Shri award, which is the fourth highest civilian award. He was also a part of the Oscar award winning film Slumdog Millionaire and won Screen Actors Guild Award, and that followed by Hindi films like Acid Factory, New York, Paan Singh Tomar and also acted in the popular Spiderman movie series, The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012.

In the latest film, Life of Pi, he is said to have given one of the best performances in his career. Coming to his personal life, he got married to a NSD graduate, Sutapa Sikdar in 1995 and have two children named Babil and Aryan. His other work include endorsement for Hutch Mobile service provider and those advertisements were a hit as Irfan made them interesting with his way of speaking. He is a Sagittarian by his sun sign.
