Lal Krishna Advani

Lal Krishna Advani, popularly known as L.K. Advani, is a well known politician of India. He was the senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and his overall journey in politics spans to more than three decades. He was born on November 8 1927 in Karachi and one among those, who had been separated from his homeland at the time of India's partition. This was his first step in his political career and after few years, he became a memeber of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He became the Minister of Information and Broadcasting when the party came into power with the effect of Emergency rule. He was made the President of BJP in 1986 and he developed the party to greater heights by mainly following the Hindutva policies. This was an advantage to the party which made it win in elections over congress. It was the turn of Congress to win in next elections but BJP came back to power in 1998 under the NDA's coalition governance. Then he served as the Deputy Prime Minister. Advani contested a number of times for the position of Prime Minister but unfortunately, he didn't witnessed success. From 2004-2009, he served as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha but later on, he had given up that position to Sushma Swaraj.
