Sonu Walia

Today is the Birthday of the Cusp-born beauty, Sonu Walia. She was born on February 19, 1964 in New Delhi in a Punjabi speaking Walia family. Her father is an Indian Army officer. According to her birth stone, She was actually named as Sonia Walia by her parents, but her name was changed to Sonu after her entry into Hindi films. Sonu did Journalism and received her graduation degree in psychology. After the completion of her studies, Walia turned upto modelling. Later, she participated in the Miss India contest and became the winner of Miss India pageant. She took over from the famous Bollywood actress, Juhi Chawla, who won the crown of Miss India in 1984. Sonu Walia won this contest in the year 1985 and then decided to take part in the Miss Universe contest also in the same year.

According to her career horoscope, Post the completion and fulfilment of her responsibilities, Walia relinquished her crown to the then Miss India, Mehr Jesia in 1986, who is now the wife of popular Bollywood actor, Arjun Rampal. In 1988, Sonu Walia stepped into the entertainment world and till 1990, she worked in the television serial Mahabharat and played the character of Maharani Chitrangadha, the mother of Babruhvana. In 1988, she appeared in the commercially successful film, Khoon Bhari Maang that starred actors Rekha, Kabir Bedi and Shatrughan Sinha, Her performance in the film won her the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and a lot of recognition.

After that, Sonu Walia went on accepting different roles and worked in a number of movies. The list of movies that had this Celebrity include Aakarshan (1988), Mahadev and Toofan in 1989, Mahasangram, Haatim Tai and Agneekaal in 1990, Khel, Pratikar, Swarg Jaisaa Ghar, Rupaye Dus Karod, Jeevan Daata in 1991, Tahalka and Nischay in 1992, Jallad and Fauji (1995), Kasam (2001), Suryakaant (2005) and Jai Maa Sherawaali (2008). She also acted in a television serial titled, Betaal Pachisi (1997 – 1998) along with talented actors, Tom Alter and Shahbaaz Khan. After her movie in 2008, she stopped working in films.

Coming to her personal life, previously, she was linked with actor Kabir Bedi but she later got married to US based hotelier, Pratap Singh and she often shuttles between US and India. Sonu Walia is born under the Aquarius-Pisces cusp Zodiac Sign and she is very sensitive in nature. She is independant, better understanding and accept challenges in life with positive attitude.
