Salil Ankola

Salil Ashok Ankola, the cricketer turned actor, is celebrating his Birthday today. According to his daily horoscope, Salil was born on March 1 1968 in Solapur, Maharashtra in a Brahmin family. Initially, he began his career as a cricketer. He was the member of the Indian cricket team and played for the 1996 Cricket World Cup. He is a right hand batsman and right arm fast medium bowler. Salil was next selected for the three match ODI series and the second match was his first match in this series. He took two wickets for 26 runs but unfortunately, India lost that match. Later, the cricketer got selected for the Test matches on domestic and overseas tours, but did not got a chance again to play for the team and become its member. He went on playing the ODI matches and after three years, he played for the series against England, and Zimbabwe. His best figures were 3 wickets for 3 runs during the Hero Cup against South Africa. His performance won him the place in the team India for the 1996 World Cup.

Post the World Cup, he was a part of the Indian team that toured South Africa for the Triangular tournament 1996/97. that was the final phase of his international cricket career and then, he moved on to television and started working in daily soaps. He acted in television shows like Karam Apna Apna, CID Special Bureau, Vikraal Aur Gabraal, Bigg Boss Season 1, Kehta Hai Dil, Kora Kagaz and Pyar Ka Bandhan and movies include Kurukshetra, Pitaah, Chura Liya Hai Tumne and Silence Please.
