Suraj Barajatya is a renowned director of Hindi films. According to his birth chart, He was born on February 22, 1964 and today is his birthday. He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra and went to St. Mary’s School in Mumbai and The Scindia School in Gwalior. His paternal grandfather, Tarachand Barjatya, was his inspiration and that made him to opt for film direction as his career. He was just 24 years old, when he directed his first film, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). This movie was produced under the banner, Rajshri Productions Pvt. Ltd, which was established by Tarachand Barjatya in 1947. Almost all the movies that he directed were released under this production house only. His direction debut film starred actors Salman Khan, Bhagyashree and others and it was a major box office hit.

According to his career report, this Celebrity again casted Salman Khan in his next film Hum Aapke Hain Koun in 1994 and that became the biggest blockbuster film of all times. Both the films were milestones in the career of Suraj Barjatya and Salman Khan. His third film, Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United, was a multi-starrer that had actors Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Mohnish Behl and others. This film also became a huge hit.

Suraj’s fourth film, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon (2003), unfortunately didn’t do well and this was his first film failed at the box office. But that didn’t stop him; he again surprised everyone with another biggest blockbuster film, Vivah (2006) starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. Suraj Barjatya is known as a director who directs only films with family based themes, which are very rare these days. Interestingly, in every movie he used the name, Prem for the lead male actors. His first two films Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun are still listed among the top ten successful films of the last 80 years and Vivah, even celebrated a silver jubilee at 25 centers in India and received above 15 nominations for major awards of Hindi film industry.

His Achievements also include Filmfare Award for Best Director for Hum Aapke Hain Koun. He is also a writer, who has scripted the films, Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi (2009). Suraj Barjatya is a humble and down to earth person and believes in family values and traditions, which can be clearly seen in his films.
