The popular yesteryears actor, Jagdeep, whose original name is Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffry, is celebrating his 74th Birthday today. According to his daily horoscope, he was born on March 29 1939 in Datia district in Madhya Pradesh state. He is mostly known for portraying comic roles in films. He gained huge success as a comic actor and became director's favorite who always wished of having him in their films. His career in films began during his childhood. According to his life report, Jagdeep worked as a child artist in films such as Afsana, directed by the well known B.R. Chopra. Then Jagdeep went on to play child character roles in Ab Dilli Door Nahin, K.A. Abbas's Munna and Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke under the AVM production house. Then, he got an opportunity to play comic role with the film Do Bigha Zameen in 1953 directed by Bengali film maker Bimal Roy.

Later, he was chosen in most of the AVM's films and gradually, he became one of the top comedians in Hindi film industry. Some of the popular roles have even made him known by his character name such as Soorma Bhopali in Sholay (1975). His Bhopal accent clicked well with the audience and its popularity, has made him even direct a film with the same name and he played the protagonist.

The funny mannerisms of this Celebrity made him an adorable comedian and the audiences's favorite. Apart from comic roles, he was also offered to work in several horror films, particularly, in films made by Ramsay Brothers. Jagdeep proved his talent again by performing the best in films like Veerana, Purana Mandir and Tehkhana. Some of the films that had Jagdeep playing good roles include Aar Paar (1954), Khilona (1970), Sholay (1975), Swarg Narak (1978), Kali Ghata (1980), Qurbani (1980), Shahenshah (1988), China Gate (1998) and Andaz Apna Apna (1994). It is not much known about the personal life of this actor. He is the father of two popular personalities, Jaaved Jaffry and Naved Jaffry.

Jaaved is an actor, dancer, comedian and judge of the dance competition show, Boogie Woogie, hosted by Naved and friend Ravi Behl. Jagdeep has three more children Hussein, Shakira Shafi and Suraiya from first marriage and the recent reports stated that his first born, Hussein died a lonely death. Jagdeep was born under Aries Zodiac Sign and he is a person with high energy, and have kind and leadership qualities. He takes up every challenge in life in a positive way and sets high goals.
