Shreya Ghoshal

One of the most established singers in the country has today is Shreya Ghoshal and today she celebrates her 29th Birthday. Shreya is a playback singer who has lent her beautiful voice for films in several languages like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Kannada and others. She was born in West Bengal in a Bengali Hindu family on March 12, 1984. Her father Biswajeet Ghoshal is a nuclear power plant engineer and mother, Sarmistha Ghoshal, who is a literature post graduate and singer as well. Shreya's first music guru is her mother from whom she started learning music mainly Bengali songs at the age of four.

According to her career horoscope, when she turned six, she received formal training in Hindustani classical music by Maheshchandra Sharma. Shreya Ghoshal took part and won the show Sa Re Ga Ma and its judge Late Kalyanji trained her in playback singing in Mumbai and she joined SIES college to complete her graduation. As an adult she participated for the second time in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and caught the attention of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He offered her to sing five songs in his film Devdas. She gave her best performance and won the Filmfare Award, Filmfare's RD Burman Award and the National Award for the song Bairi Piya, which she considers as the biggest Achievement in her career.

She has established herself as a leading singer in the Bollywood and other regional film industries as well. In South, she made her debut with the song Yen Chellan from The Tamil film, Album but won huge recognition through the song Munbe Vaa from Sillinu Oru Kaadhal. In Malayalam, this Celebrity debuted through a studio album of composer Alphons Joseph and sang Vida Parayukayano from Big B followed by Anwar. She even sang for the English independent film, When Harry Tries to Marry in 2010. Shreya was also awarded State Film Awards from Malayalam, Tamil, Bangali, Kannada and Telugu film industries. She was also a judge in Star Voice of India – chote Ustad and X Factor India and was the captain of the singing show, Music Ka Maha Muqqabla.

Shreya made her on-screen appearance in 2003 in the film Saaya singing Har Taraf. In 2011, she did a commercial ad for Joyalukkas jewelry store. She has won her admirers and fans all over the world through her concerts and live programs. Shreya Ghoshal is a Piscean and she is a mature, sensitive and kind hearted individual.
