The National Award winning producer and maker of some of the biggest hit films of all time, Aditya Chopra celebrates his 42nd Birthday today. He was born on 21 May 1971 to the late ace film director Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is the elder brother of actor Uday Chopra and Karan Johar is his cousin. Aditya did his schooling from Bombay Scottish School and completed his graduation from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics.
Aditya's career in films started when he was just 18, where he became an assistant director, working with his father for films like Lamhe, Darr and Chandni. At 23, he has written and directed the blockbuster film, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge under Yash Raj Films banner for which, he is the Vice-Chairman now, and this won him the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Next, this Celebrity gave dialogues to his father's film, Dil To Pagal Hain which also won the National Award. Then, he directed Mohabbatein with top actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead which also became a huge hit at the box office. Films like Mujhse Dosti Karoge and Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai were average but Hum Tum came with a bang and won him five Filmfare awards.
In his career, Aditya Chopra has given several good films of which, many were blockbusters such as Dhoom, Veer-Zaara, Bunty Aur Babli, Dhoom 2, Chak De India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Band Baaja Baaraat, Ishaqzaade, Ek Tha tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Aurangzeb. His upcoming flicks include Dhoom 3, Gunday, Kill Dil and Paani. Yash Chopra also established a film production studio, YRF Studios under which several movies were filmed. Then launched the YRF Home Entertainment that distributed and financed many films and and YRF Music that worked in the distribution of film soundtracks released under the banner. This helped in shaping up the career of many budding music composers like Vishal Shekhar, Salim Sulaiman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and others.
In 2010, YRF entered into Indian Television and broadcasted shows like Mahi Way, Rishta.com, Khotey Sikkey and others. Coming to his personal life, he was married to Payal Khanna but the couple got divorced after 8 years of marriage. Now he is often linked up with actress Rani Mukherjee. Aditya Chopra was born under Taurus Zodiac Sign and he is a sensitive, kind and practical person.
