Tom Berenger


Tom Berenger is an American actor, producer, and television writer who is celebrating his 64th birthday today. He was born on 31 May 1949 as Thomas Michael Moore in an Irish Catholic family in Chicago. He pursued graduation from Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois and journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Instead of making career in this field, he took up acting. In 1988, he even set up The Tom Berenger Acting Scholarship Fund to award theatre students for excellence in performance. After moving to the New York City in 1970s, he began working in soap operas like One Life to Live.

In 1976, Tom Berenger worked in his first feature film, Rush It. He did a small role in Looking for Mr. Goodbar. He played the lead role in, In Praise of Older Women in 1978 followed by Butch and Sundance: The Early Days. Tom appeared in lots of films during 1980s that include The Bog Chill, Platoon (won Golden Globe Award and nomination for Academy Award), Major League, Born on the Fourth of July, Sliver and others. His performance in the film, Sniper won him good recognition. Tom's favorite of all time is the 1993 film Gettysburg. In 1997, he even co-produced the miniseries, Rough riders.




This Celebrity did a lot of supporting roles in his career that includes television too. For his work in Cheers, he received nomination for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. He turned into a producer in the 1990s. Berenger appeared on the promotional content for Novalogic's Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. Next, he worked in the mini-series version of Nightmares & Dreamscapes. In December 2009, Tom acted in the dramatic thriller, Breaking Point that also had actors Armand Assane and Busta Rhymes. Next, he was seen in the science fiction thriller Inception alongwith Leonardo DiCaprio and Cillian Murphy. This was his first appearance in a mainstream theatrical film and it became a huge success.




Last year, he was awarded with the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his performance in the TV mini-series Hafields & McCoys. Tom Berenger has six children of four marriages who are named Allison, Patrick, Chelsea, Chloe, Shiloh and Scout. Berenger is a Gemini born individual who has a dual nature. His personality traits include friendliness, adaptability, concern for dear ones, sharing attitude and so on. He is too idealistic and loyal.
