Anju Mahendru

Anju Mahendru is an actress who worked in both Hindi films and television soaps. She was born on 11th January 1946 in Dehradun. She began her career in modelling when she was just 13 years old. She is a Capricorn woman, who is disciplined, hardworking, and ambitious. So according to her capricorn daily horoscope, She is independant and positive towards the life and very responsible and sensitive towards relationships. When she began with modeling, she came to the notice of the well known poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi. Being impressed with her looks, Azmi introduced Anju to Basu Bhattacharya. Basu casted her in his film Uski Kahaani in 1966, opposite Tarun Ghosh. This was also the first film of Basu Bhattacharya as a movie director. After this film, Anju MAhendru received several other offers and she went on to act in movies like Jewel Thief, Bandhan, and Dastak. Although, she worked in many successful films, but unfortunately, she did not made it to the top.

Anju Mahendru was known for her relationship with the Bollywood's first superstar Rajesh Khanna. In fact, she was the first love of the superstar. The couple dated each other for almost 7 years and maintained a live-in relationship. The couple faced some differences and that separated them. Then she started seeing the West Indies cricketer Gary Sobers and it was rumoured that they were even engaged. But that relation also didn't worked for a long. Later, she married Gajendra Chaurasia and had two children. However, that marriage also ended in an ugly separation. Anju was by the side of Rajesh Khanna during the last moments of his life. She used to visit the superstar often and took care of him. She was present even in the funeral until the last rituals took place. She lended her support and stood by the actress Dimple Kapadia and family.
