Namrata Shirodkar

Namrata Shirodkar is a model turned Indian actress born to a Goan origin family in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on January 22nd 1972 and she is an Aquarian by her Zodiac Sign. The well known Marathi actress, Meenakshi Shirodkar, who appeared in the film Brahmachari (1938), is her grandmother. She has an elder sister, Shilpa Shirodkar, who is also an actress. Before entering the film industry, Namrata took up modelling and in 1993, she was crowned Miss India. She also took part in the Miss Universe pageant. She represented India and ended up in fifth place.

Namrata, then entered the film industry by playing a small role in the Hindi film, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hain (1998). Alongside the Tollywood start, Mahesh Babu, she worked in the film, Vamsi and from then, the two actors started seeing each other. In 2004, she acted in a Telugu film, Anji, opposite actor Chiranjeevi. And the same year, she played Aishwarya's sister in the film, Bride and Prejudice, which was a successful film overseas but not in India.

After this film, she quit acting. Some of the films in her career include Mere Do Anmol Ratan, Kachche Dhaage, Aaghaaz, Albela, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Tehzeeb, LOC Kargil, Charas and Rok Sako To Rok Lo etc. Namrata Shirodkar and Telugu actor, Mahesh Babu got married on 10th February 2005 and now she resides in Hyderabad with husband and family. The couple have two children, Gautam Krishna Gattamaneni, who was born in 2006 and daughter Sitara, born in July 2012.
