Saeed Jaffrey is an indian born British actor, born in Malerkotla, Punjab on 8th January, 1929 and celebrating his birthday today. He is famous for portraying the character of Nawab in the show The Jewel in the Crown. In his marriage life, He and his wife Madhur Jaffrey were also casted in the short films Parable and Stalked, after which he worked in his first feature film, The Guru in 1969. Later. he appeared in several British films and worked along with some of the top actors like Sean Connery, Michael Caine and Pierce Brosnan and directors like James Ivory, Satyajit Ray, Richard Attenborough and David Lean.

The actor is known for his performances in films like The Man Who Would Be King, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Gandhi, A Passage to India and My Beautiful Laundrette. The other films of Saeed Jaffrey include Mashaal, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Ram Lakhan, Henna, Dil, Deewana Mastana, Naseeb, Aunty No.1, and many more. He has three daughters Meera, Zia and actress Sakina Jaffrey from wife Madhur Jaffrey but divorced her in 1965. He received several awards in his film career and that include Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Shatranj Ke Khiladi, 12th Annual Genie Best Actor Award for Masala, and got nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for films, Ram Teri Ganga Maili and Henna.
