Ashley Tisdale is an American actress and singer who performed a prominent role portraying Maddie Fitzpatrick in Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and the female antagonist Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical film series. She was born on July 2, 1985 to a family of unique TV personalities including a grandfather who was a pitchman for Ginsu knives and cousin Ron Popeil, famed inventor and infomercial guru. Tisdale was discovered at a mall near her home in New Jersey at age three by a talent manager who helped the youngster launch a lucrative career in commercials, including appearances in over 100 national spots before she began to explore musical theater at a local community venue. At the age of eight, she hit the road to star in the national touring company of Les Miserables, following it up with an international tour of Anne.
With their daughter's show business career gaining momentum, her family including her sister Jennifer, herself an actress relocated to the Los Angeles area when Tisdale was in the eighth grade. Her first onscreen credits were guest spots on 7th Heaven and Smart Guy. She had a small voice role in the animated feature A Bugs Life and more television appearances followed, with roles on The Amanda Show, Boston Public, George Lopez and Malcolm in the Middle. After focusing on television and other projects with her production company, Tisdale started focusing on feature film roles in 2013. Her involvement in Dimension Films Scary Movie 5, the fourth sequel to the 2000 movie, was announced in June 2012, by The Weinstein Company. She played Jody, a late 20s dancer, the leading role in the film, which also starred Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen. The film received an April 2013 release. However, the film grossed $15 million on its first weekend, making it the lowest-grossing opening weekend for a film in the franchise.
Ashlay Tisdale was cast to star opposite Nicolas Cage in the movie Left Behind as Chloe Steele, a young woman that wanders America looking to find any remaining members of her family. After four years since the release of her second studio album Guilty Pleasure in 2009, Tisdale, during an interview with MTV in April, 2013, said she is inspired to make music again and also confirmed she has been recording for her third studio album from the year before. She hopes to surprise people a little bit, something different from what done before.
