P.Bharathiraja is a famous South Indian film maker who works in Tamil film industry. He was born on 17 July 1977 in Theni Tamil Nadu India. He is known for showing village life and realistic stories in his movies. He is known for his excellent works like 16 Vayathinile, Muthal Mariyathi, Vedham Pudhithu, Karuththamma, Kizhakku cheemayile and Anthimanthaaraj.He has won many film awards in which 6 are National Awards, two Tamil Nadu Film Industry Awards, and other awards like Film fare Awards South, Cinema Express Awards and Nandi Awards. He has started his career as Assistant Director and learned the art of film making. He first got his directorial opportunity in the year 1977. His first movie was 16 Vayathinile which has started the new era of film making by introducing a village oriented script. The movie at the beginning looked like a Black and White art movie but latter turned out as a big successful commercial film and also emerged as new career point for several other careers beginners.

P.Bharathiraja worked on other subjects also and came out of one particular style of film making by Nizhalgal and an action Thriller film Tik Tik Tik. But his strength was a village back ground movie so again he started making it and he gave continuous hit movies like Alaigal Oivadhillai, Mann Vasanai and Muthal Mariyathai based on village love stories.Among this Muthal Mariyathai was a big hit with a big star cast like Veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan in the lead, Playing a middle age village head who falls in love with a poor young women Radha who has come to his village to establish her living. He narrated the story poetic touch.He has also head the Tamil nadu Film director association.
