Sangeeta Bijlani

Sangeeta Bijlani is a well-known Indian Bollywood actress and former model born on July 9, 1960 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Bijlani belongs to a Sindhi family and is celebrating her 53rd birthday. She became quite famous and grabbed the public attention after winning the Miss India contest, which was held in 1980. Daughter of Motilal, Sangeeta was in a relationship with Salman Khan but their story came to an end soon, after which she met Mohammed Azharuddin, a former Indian cricketer.He gave divorce to his wife and married Bijlani. Sangeeta Bijlani’s Islamic name is Ayesha Azhar.

 

Presently, they are now running a media company called Azhar Sangeeta Management Services. In the late 80s, two of her films were released, namely Qatil (1988) and Hathyar (1989), Hathyar was first offered to Dimple Kapadia who left the role for the film Batwara, which then fell in the pockets of Sangeetha. She tasted success with her film Tridev in the same year, which was a super hit. She was nominated for the best supporting actress in Filmfare awards for Mahesh Bhatt's Jurm(1990). Other than Tridev and Jurm, Sangeetha worked in many hit films like Yodha,Vishnu Deva, Ijjat, Yugandhar and many more but these male oriented films could not help her full-fledgely.

She kept on continuing to act in films till mid 90s. Her better half, Mohammad Azharuddin, gave her good support, she also anchored in Doordarshan's popular Sunday morning show - Rangoli. Additionally, she acted in Zee TV's serial Chandni and her role was title oriented besides that she also featured in another ad of Nirma Soap along with Shilpa Shetty which was a very famous advertisement. She is often seen in the party circles but has not acted in films since 1995.
