Babita Kapoor

Babita Kapoor, was a former Bollywood actress who appeared in films during 1960s and 1970s and today she is celebrating her Birthday. She was born as Bhambhani into a Sindhi family on April 20, 1948 in Mumbai to actor Hari Shivdasani. Babita is the wife of actor Randhir Kapoor, the eldest daughter-in-law of actor Raj Kapoor and great daughter-in-law of actor Prithviraj Kapoor. She is the mother of actresses Karishma and Kareena Kapoor and aunt of actor Ranbir Kapoor. She is also niece of yesteryear actress, Sadhana. Her career in films happened post her screen test by producer G.P. Sippy. She gave her screen test successfully and grabbed an opportunity to work in his film.

The film career of Babita Kapoor was very short and that spanned to only five years. In that duration, she worked in only 19 films. Her first film, which was offered by G.P. Sippy was Dus Lakh in 1966. That is followed by several other movies such as Raaz (1967), Farz (1967), Aulad (1968), Haseena Maan Jayegi (1969), Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai (1969), Anjaana (1969), Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971), and others. She starred opposite Randhir Kapoor in the hit film, Kal Aaj Aur Kal.

On the 6th of November 1971, this Celebrity got married to Randhir Kapoor. Post her marriage, she stopped acting in films as it a tradition of Kapoor family, which forbids women from working in films. Then, Karisma Kapoor was born in 1974 and Kareena Kapoor in 1980. But post their birth, some issues took place in the couple's relationship that led to their separation. Babita walked out of the house alongwith her two daughters. She even broke the tradition of women not working in films and encouraged her daughters in taking up acting. Today, her daughters are more successful as actresses than her. She re-united with her husband in 2007 and started living in the same house that she left before 20 years.

Now, Babita is a grandmother of Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapoor. Recently, on October 16, 2012, her younger daughter Kareena Kapoor married actor Saif Ali Khan. Babita was born under the Aries Zodiac Sign and she is a lively, energetic and confident person.
