Lisa Ray

Lisa Rani Ray or popularly known as Lisa Ray, is a beautiful and talented Canadian actress, philanthropist and social activist, born on April 4 1972 and today, she is celebrating her Birthday. She was born in Toronto to a Hindu Bengali Indian father and a Polish mother and she grew up in the Etobicoke suburb. Lisa's career started as a model at the age of 16 and came in the spotlight post her appearance in the Bombay Dyeing advertisement. Later, she posed for the cover of Glad Rags and this success led to her appearance in several advertisements for various Indian companies. In 1994, she made her cinematic debut with the Tamil film, Nethaji and then worked opposite Mahesh Babu in a Telugu film, Takkari Donga. Lisa Ray also worked in music videos in the popular song, Afreen Afreen by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in 1996 and in Har Taraf Tera Jalwa by Daler Mehndi in 1998.

She became brand ambassador for Lakme cosmetics and Rado watches in India. She entered Bollywood in 2001 with the film Kasoor and it is when she came to the notice of renowned filmmaker Deepa Mehta, who then casted her in the 2002 romantic Indian-Canadian romp, Bollywood/Hollywood. Then she moved on to London to pursue career in the performing arts and graduated from the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts and in 2004, received her post graduate degree in acting. The next year, she worked again with Deepa Mehta in the Oscar nominated film, Water that also had John Abraham. This Celebrity then worked in several films from Canada, Europe and the United States like All Hat, A Stone's Throw, The World Unseen, I Can't Think Straight, Kill Kill Faster Faster and others.

In 2009. she revealed about her incurable rare cancer, multiple myeloma. She underwent stem cell transplant and in 2010, she announced that she was cancer free. Lisa worked in a documentary film titled, 1 a Minute that highlighted the survivors of Cancer disease. Ray also did stage playes, became a host and went on a national media tour to raise public awareness about cancer. Lisa got engaged to management consultant, Jason Dehni in February 2012 and got married in October. This ambitious and stong hearted actress was born under the Aries Zodiac Sign, which is noted for qualities like courage and overcoming problems and her fight against cancer, proved it all.  Appropriate care and attention necessary for physical and mental health and should work on relationships to keep it enduring and in harmony.
