Jaya Prada is an actress and a politician who worked in films in several languages like Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Bengali etc, and today she is celebrating her Birthday. Jaya was born on April 3 1962 as Lalita Rani in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh in a middle class family to Krishna Rao (Telugu film financier) and Neelaveni. She gave her first dance performance at the age of 14 at her school's annual function and that caught attention of one of the Telugu film director, who later, offered her a three minute dance number in the film Bhoomikosam.

Balachander offered her a Tamil film titled, Ninaithale Inikkum opposite Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth. She debuted in Hindi films with Sargam, which is the remake of her film, Siri Siri Muvva. Jaya's political career began in 1994 after which, her appearance in films reduced. She first joined TDP at the invitation of its founder, N.T. As an actress, she won several awards like Filmfare, Nandi Special Jury Award, Rajiv Gandhi Award, Kala Saraswati Award and others. Coming to her family life, she is married to producer Srikant Nahata who already have a wife and three children.
