Saqib Saleem

Saqib Saleem is a model turned actor, who is just two films old in the Hindi film industry and celebrating his 25th Birthday today. He was born on April 8, 1988 into a Muslim family in Delhi. His father runs a chain of around ten restaurants called Saleem's. Saqib has a sister, Huma Qureshi, an actress who worked in the film, Gangs of Wasseypur. In his initial days, he used to assist his father in the running of restaurants. But by that time, he was already into modelling. His father wished him of staying in Delhi and receive a Master of Business Administration degree but Saqib had moved to Mumbai. He even choose to play Cricket for Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, making it his career choice.

But after reaching Mumbai, Saqib Saleem took up some modelling assignments and later worked in commercials for brands like Tata Docomo, Sprite etc, and in the ad of Pepsi, he appeared alongside actor Ranbir Kapoor. With this experience of working in advertisements, he developed interest in acting and started trying for opportunities to work in Bollywood films. His dream of working in films has finally come true in the year 2010, when one of his friends informed about the auditions taking place at Yash Raj Films production house for new actors.

The celebrity gave it a try and the result of him being selected, came after 8-9 months of the auditions. He was finalised for the film, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, a romantic comedy film, directed by Nupur Asthana. The other newcomers of the film include Nishant Dahiya, Saba Azad, and Tara D'Souza. For this role, the actor had to go attend the workshop under Aditya Chopra. The film was released in 2011 and became a critical success. Both saleem and Azad won good recognition and received compliments as the faces to look out for in the coming years. The movie had a good collection and that surpassed other films like Aazaan and My Friend Pinto.

The next film, which Saqib signed up for Y-Films Ltd is, Mere Dad Ki Maruti that was recently released. This is a comedy film that also stars actors Ram Kapoor, Prabal Panjabi, and Rhea Chakraborty. Saqib Saleem is an Aries as per his Zodiac Sign and being sensitive, generous and practical are his character traits. He aims in achieving something in life and lend a helping hand for people in distress. According to his Horoscope, he will enjoy his success in work but simultaneously, burdens and pressure will increase. Maintaining good relations with people in the industry is important. The second half of the year will bring him recognition.
