Lillete Dubey

Lillete Dubey is an Indian actress, mostly known for appearing character roles in different genre films and today she is celebrating her 52nd Birthday. She was born on 13 May 1961 in Pune, Maharashtra in a Sindhi family. Leela was her mother after whom, she was named Lillete, meaning a small-Leela. Her mother was a gynaecologist and father was an employee of the Indian Railways but an engineer by profession. She has a sister named Lushin Dubey. At the age of five, Lillete learnt the Hindustani vocal with her father's support. She went to Carmel Convent in Delhi. After moving to Pune, she joined St. Mary's School where she discovered her talent in acting. She became a theatre artist where Cecily was one of her initial roles in the play, The Importance of Being Earnest.

Lillete Dubey completed her graduation in English Literature, after fighting with her father, who insisted her to do a Physics honours degree. She got into theatre in a big way in the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi and it was then, she met her future husband, Ravi Dubey during one of her interactions with the Shakespeare Society of St. Stephens. From being her best male buddy, their relationship led to their marriage.

The couple have two daughters, Neha Dubey and Ira Dubey. Neha appeared in Mira Nair's film, Monsoon Wedding whereas Ira, worked in the films, The President Is Coming and Aisha. Later, this Celebrity received offers to work in several good films and some of them include Monsoon Wedding, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Baghban, Bow Barracks Forever, and Housefull. Her other films that won her good recognition are Zubeidaa, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Pinjar, Lakshya, Corporate, Mumbai Calling, Heroine, and Chashme Baddoor. Her upcoming films are Bhaiyyaji Superhit and Shobhana's Seven Nights. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which came in 2012, was her first British film. Besides acting, she is also an acclaimed theatre director, television and film artist.

Lillete also started the Theatre Action Group in Delhi. She directed many plays of which, Dance like a Man is the popular and longest play in English that had 425 shows all over the world. Lillete Dubey was born under the Taurus zodiac sign. She is a sensitive, practical, independent and kind person who is unhesitant about helping one in need.
