Paresh Rawal

Paresh Rawal is an Indian actor who worked in both Hindi and other regional films. Today, Paresh celebrates his 63rd Birthday. He was born on 30 May 1950 in Paliad, Gujarat and presently, he is residing in Mumbai. He is also the alumnus from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. Swaroop Sampat, who is also a Bollywood actress and winner of the Miss India contest in 1979, is his wife. The couple have two sons, Aditya and Aniruddh. Paresh first moved to Mumbai to become a civil engineer at the age of 22 but his acting abilities made him land in the film industry. The debut movie of this actor, Holi came in 1984 in which he played a small role. Next came Naam in 1986 that became a blockbuster and won him good recognition. Since then Paresh Rawal never looked back and worked in more than 100 films throughout 1980s and 1990s. The one film that remained the biggest hit among others is Hera Pheri in 2000. He is popular in South too as he worked in some hit Telugu films such as Kshana Kshanam, Rikshavodu, Money, Govinda Govinda, Shankar Dada MBBS, and Theenmaar. Most of the roles of him were of villain and supporting characters.

For his wonderful performances in Woh Chokri and Sir, he was given the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor (1994) and a Filmfare Award for the latter. This Celebrity got the national and international acclaim for portraying the lead role of freedom fighter Vallabhbhai Patel in the film Sardar. The 1996 film Tamanna, is still known for his best performance as a hijra. As Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri, he grabbed everyone's attention and received Filmfare Best Comedian Award for the same. He was again successful in reprising the character in its sequel Phir Hera Pheri in 2006. There are many other movies that had Paresh Rawal and were huge hits such as Garam Masala, Malamaal Weekly, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, Bhagam Bhag, Welcome, and Aakrosh etc. A special mention to the film, Oh My God (2012) that had him playing the lead role.

He gave a strong performance in the movie and despite facing many controversies, it became a huge hit. He also produced many daily soaps like Teen Bahuraaniyan (Zee TV), Main Aisi Kyun Hoon (Sahara One) and Laagi Tujhse Lagan (Colors).
