Naomi Campbell-The British Model

Naomi Campbell is a popular British model, who got to fame at a young age. Today she celebrates her 43rd Birthday. She was born on May 22 1970 to father Valerie Morris, who left her mother when she was four months pregnant. She never met him but took the surname Campbell from her mother's second marriage. She has a half-brother named Pierre. During her childhood, her mother worked as a modern dancer and toured across Europe. She was enrolled at the Barabara Speake Stage School and at ten, she joined the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts to learn ballet. Before her career in modeling began, she appeared in a music video of Bob Marley's Is This Love and portrayed Snow White in two episodes of The Chiffy Kids TV series.

 

Naomi was scouted in 1986 by the head of the Synchro model agency after which, her career took off. She posed for the cover of the Elle magazine. This Celebrity began tasting success and walked the runway for many popular designers and posed for renowned photographers. She was one of the trio of models known as the Trinity. In 1987, she became the first black woman to appear on the British Vogue magazine since 1966 and on French Vogue magazine too.

 

Naomi Campbell was chosen one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1991 by People magazine. In the mid 1990s, she turned to the entertainment industry, written a novel titled, Swan in 1994 and in the same year, released her album, Babywoman. Post her retirement from the runway, she continued print modeling and signed first cosmetics contract with Cosmopolitan Cosmetics. Naomi appeared on the Playboy magazine cover. She again got opportunity to walk the runway in 2007 for Dior's sixtieth anniversary fashion show. Appeared in the band's music video for Girl Panic in 2011 and was seen with Kate Moss during the 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony.

 

Campbell is engaged with a lot of charity works. She supports Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, founded the charity Fashion for Relief for raising funds for victims of natural calamities. Naomi never married but had relationships with personalities like boxer Mike Tyson, actor Robert De Niro, bassist Adam Clayton, businessman Badr Jafar and since 2008, he is engaged with Russian businessman Vladislav Doronin. Naomi Campbell is a Gemini as per her Zodiac Sign.
